Joe, I wanted to thank you for making Mireya's party such a hit. The kids and the parents absolutely loved you. It absolutely gave me joy to hear my princess tell me, "Mommy I had so much fun and this was the best birthday ever." Once again - THANK YOU! - - Lidia V.

Home repair update: ready for phase 2!

Having finally surmounted the milestone of finishing the paint job - which definitely involved a lot more than just painting - we are ready to begin part 2: building a doggie fence around the back yard... and re-landscaping it, to boot!

This first photo shows the old blue on beige scheme - nice, but not particularly inspiring...

Feast your eyes on the new and improved, fit for a family of artists, green red & yellow jobbie! It's kind of hard to see the yellow in this photo, but it's there in small amounts as a highlight to the red. We'll let you know how the back yard goes...

Middleway Medicine Website Released!

Let's hear it for our old friends Clark & Ann - their website at Middleway Medicine has officially been released - and it's beautiful! Their practice is helping people live more balanced lives - to walk the path of the middle way - and in so doing lead healthier, happier lives. The imagery of the pathway is thus a theme of their website; the two photographed all the pathway pictures themselves while on their honeymoon, and in their travels. Their clinic in Talent, Oregon is also really nice, and has been doing really well - not bad, considering they just opened a few months ago! Congrats you two!!

Also relevant to this is the fact that Clark & Ann's website was created by the same husband & wife team who built my website! Dan & Kristin of the totally ironically named Corporate Big really do amazing work - and they make all the technical stuff easy to understand. Case in point: before we launched my site, I didn't want anything to do with a computer (except to play the 5 sledgehammer swings for $1 game); now every time I step up to create a new facet, I can't help but to think how extremely happy I am with my website. So, thanks again you two!!

New pics are up in the press archive area!

We recently got our hands on the August 2004 issue of Reed Magazine - a magazine of personalities, actions & ideas - published by the folks over at Reed College and we were delighted to see that Joe is prominently featured in full color on the back! The photo was taken by Orin Bassoff during the college's '04 class reunion. Thanks to R. Smith for bringing this to our attention!

Click on the photo to visit Joe's press
archive area & dig these cool new pics!

Sometimes I don't have to add a single word:

"Here are two pictures of my son. The one as a baby was taken at a foster child Christmas party in Clackamas county (1998) as he was a foster child. We later adopted him and saw you at the Aidswalk a few weeks ago. He remembered you from the photo album he has with the attached baby picture in it. Such fun. You bring such playful energy and joy to moments that may seem small. Never underestimate the power of what you do." -Deb

Thank you, Deb - that really made my day!

Even highfalutin' politicians like to wear Joe's balloons!

Yes, even the most powerful people in the world
are proud to show their support of Mishkin's balloon art!

We recently dropped in on
the Portland Parks Foundation's
donor appreciation night,
an event that was being held
at the Portland Children's Museum,
where we were able to catch up with
Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams
- a man who really does
wear a lot of different hats!

Joe will pretty much vote for anyone
wearing one of his monkey hats!

Seriously, though...
he was a very good sport!

The local juggling store has found its new home!

Yes!! Our friends at Serious Juggling have settled in at their new location on Ne 37th Ave between Broadway & Sandy - underneath the Budweiser (used to be '7-up') sign!

The location is not the handy couple of blocks away from my house that it used to be, but it's still in a great spot that I usually drive past a lot anyway, so I'm stoked; Portlanders should be, too - this is one local gem of a juggling supply store!

Don't live in Portland, but still wish to nurture your inner-juggler? Click here to visit the wonderfully on line version of Serious Juggling - enjoy!
